Red Boiling Springs got their payback last night as they defeated Satterfield Middle 35-25, riding the 17-point effort by guard Chris Hackney. JSMS defeated RBS last Tuesday in Hartsville in overtime 26-24.
RBS dominated the boards in the first half, getting many second, and sometimes third opportunities on the offensive end, which led to easy points. The Jr. Jackets had ample scoring opportunities to score within 6 feet, but couldn’t find the hoop sending the game into the break with RBS holding a 19-12 lead. “RBS shoots much better at home and I knew that going in. I told the kids it was important that we block out and rebound”, JSMS head coach Davy Cothron stated.
JSMS made a second half run as they turned up the pressure and caused some turnovers, but the inability to cash in around the rim prevented the Jackets from getting within five points. JSMS finished the game 9 of 35 (26%) from the field and 7 of 15 (47%) from the free throw line.
JSMS will be back in action Thursday, on the road to Wilson County, to take on the Hornets of Tuckers Crossroads.
