JSMS hit the road to Tuckers Crossroads Thursday and came up on the wrong end of a 42-27 score.
The Jr. Jackets allowed numerous fast break layups in the first twelve minutes to fall behind 24-9 at the half. The Jacket defense stepped up and held TXR scoreless for over four minutes to start the third quarter. That gave the offense an opportunity to get back in the game. JSMS had three straight possessions to get the game below ten points late in the third, but three straight turnovers finally helped TXR to push the lead to twelve after three periods.
JSMS had their best scoring output in the final quarter as they put up twelve points, but TXR’s Brice Njezic put any thoughts of a comeback bid to bed as he poured in nine of his game-high 24 points during the final six minutes on a perfect 4-4 from the field and 1-1 from the charity stripe.
JSMS was paced by Kobyn Calhoun’s 12 points. Kingston McClain had a season high 6 points, followed by Cole Gregory with 5. Devan Walford had 2 points along with Dalton Stafford chipping in a couple free throws. Stafford was on the court for the first time in a week after dealing with an ankle injury.
JSMS will close out November with a short trip to Macon County Junior High on Tuesday November 26th. Both the girls and boys will have JV action prior to the girls varsity at 6:00.
