JSMS unloaded the lumber on visiting Carroll-Oakland Middle in a 17-7, 6-inning (10 run after five innings rule) victory, but it was as easy as the scoreboard makes it out to be.
The Jackets jumped out early behind a strong pitching performance by 7th grade LHP, Cole Gregory and pounding out multiple hits to take a 6-0 lead after two innings. Carroll-Oakland wouldn’t go quietly as they rallied to score 7 runs in the top of the 4th behind timely hits and careless Jacket defense to take a 7-6 lead into the bottom of the 4th, but that lead quickly faded as the Jackets racked of five straight hits, started by a lead-off double down the left field line by second baseman Kobyn Calhoun to take back the lead.
The hitting barage continued and the Jackets dropped a 5 run mark to take an 11-7 lead. The Jackets continued to pile on hits in the 5th and 6th to enact the 10-run rule and complete the 17-7 final score.
Colton Key had a great day at the plate with two doubles, a triple, and a single. AJ Adams also had a couple extra base hits as the entire lineup put the ball into play frequently.
JSMS will take the week off for Spring Break before jumping back into action on Monday April 1st when they will be back on the Creekbank hosting Tucker’s Crossroads. Check trousdalecountyathletics.com for game time.
