Monday marked the start of yet another season for the JSMS Lady Jackets as they traveled down to Gordonsville to take on the Lady Tigers. Gordonsville jumped out to a 13-5 lead in the beginning of the game before Hartsville went on a 5-0 run with the help of an Ella Elmore three pointer to make it 13-10 Lady Tigers at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Jackets continued to turn up the intensity as they held Gordonsville to only two points in the second quarter, and took a 17-15 advantage into the locker room at the half. The Hartsville girls never trailed again as they went up ten points in the third with baskets scored by JaNae’ Aponte’, Kayleigh Dunn, and Taren Simmons. However, once the fourth quarter began, play became tight and with only 3.5 seconds remaining it was all tied up. The Lady Jackets set up a baseline play, but the shot fell short. Luckily, seventh grader Kayleigh Dunn was in the right place at the right time as she snagged the offensive rebound and shot the put back layup as time expired.
