JSMS stayed on the winning track with an 8-3 victory over visiting Walter J. Baird from Lebanon. WJB took an early lead, 1-0, off of four first inning walks to go along with a base hit, but starting pitcher escaped major damage by inducing a two-out, bases loaded ground ball to end the inning.
JSMS bats were hitting the snooze button the first couple of innings as the WJB starter struck out four of the first five batters he faced. It took a while, but JSMSs Colton Key, Parker Day, and AJ Adams collected hits and gave the Jackets the lead. A lead they would not relinquish the rest of the day.
WJB cut the lead to 4-3 in the top of the 4th inning, but the Jackets doubled up their run total in the bottom of the frame to take an 8-3 lead that would stand the rest of the way for an 8-3 final score.
JSMS hits the road today (Wednesday) for a matchup with Westmoreland Middle (Makeup from March rain out). Game will be played at Westmoreland High School. 4:30 scheduled first pitch.
